These pictures lend themselves to being a springboard for the writing process - addressing Core Standards. As one happy teacher commented, “ I love that I can incorporate artwork in CCSS using these student designed pictures. You might not feel like you can give up precious lesson time to let the kids “color.” So to help make these art-themed activities more aligned to the common core standards, I have included writing pages in this lesson. I am, however, a teacher, so I understand how hard-pressed classroom teachers are for time. As an art educator, artist, and lover of all things “artsy,” I am a big proponent of “art for art’s sake.” My Pop Art interactive coloring sheets are designed to be used any time of year for the sake of making art! Great for art teachers, classroom teachers, homeschool parents, and more! I have included 2 writing prompts with 2 different line types to select from – one for older children and one for younger. These will enable you to differentiate according to your students’ abilities. This allows you some room for flexibility with students who might struggle to add the patterns themselves or save time and add variety to your class. I have created all the interactive images as pattern-filled ones as well. (Full instructions provided in the resource). If your students were to make several of these (along with writings), they would have a beautiful portfolio or bulletin board display. Students also have to color small details, which improves their fine motor skills, which help with many things - handwriting being one example. Students spend a lot of thought and consideration when deciding where the patterns will go in each design. The two types of pages are included to help with differentiation in your classroom. There are both interactive designs and pattern-filled coloring pages in this resource. These pages will really hit home for your students and their love of design, art, mermaids, and unicorns! No two interactive coloring sheets will ever be the same - just like the kids who are creating them! 6 pattern-filled coloring sheets (3 mermaids and 3 unicorns).6 interactive coloring sheets (3 mermaids & 3 unicorns). This unique set of Pop Art mermaid and unicorn coloring sheets features: Use these for your own children over the summer, summer camps, or for a fun art center in your classroom or your home any time! I also found that sympathized with old King Trenton a bit more now as a parent than I did as a young girl. Ursula is petty scary and the whole killing her with broken wood on the boat was all a bit full on. I have to say, I have not seen that move in about 25 years and it was a lot darker than I remember. The sheets inspired us to watch The Little Mermaid today. They now hung with pride in my daughters’ room. We used some gel pens to create some extra sparkle and the mermaids look fantastic. I’ve tested these designs out with my daughters and they were a big hit. These pages are perfect for a quiet day in or a fun activity to set up at a mermaid party. In the set, there are ten different mermaid designs that you can download and use. Get ready your colored pencils because we are back today with some beautiful Mermaid coloring pages.
